I attended St. Clair High School in 1985 and Western Michigan University BBA, Michigan in 1989. After beginning to attend the University of Detroit Law School, I was given the opportunity to work indigent appeals for the Michigan State Appellate Defender's Office. From there, I studied abroad in London and completed my schooling in 1992 under the late, great Steve Goldstein who taught FSU's Summer Law program.
Between 1993 and 1999, I worked in Public Defender's offices across the Keys, rising through the ranks. From 1999 to 2002, I entered private practice as an attorney for Cunningham, Miller, Crimella, Hamilton & Wolfe - Criminal and Civil Litigation. There I focused on criminal defense, until I opened my own office in 2002.
I have been a member in good standing of the Florida Association of Criminal Defence Lawyers since 1999 when I helped found the Monroe County Chapter. Between 2001 and 2003, I have been Director at large. Through my work with the Association, I have had meetings with 2 Florida Supreme Court Justices. At a Board Meeting, I had the temerity to recommend a Sentencing Seminar for FACDL. Thereafter, for 3 years, I organized the Showcase on Sentencing in Florida.
